“Production pottery gives me a container to play with surface design. The forms that I make have the same language of soft curves but each series of work changes decoratively. I start each collection with an exploration of patterns, shape and color to fit with the theme that I’m making the work around. Typically, this falls into a season of the year or a specific holiday. However, flowers are a continuous motif throughout each series. My work is mainly wheel thrown and then the surface is a tactile layer of colored clay additions and slip. I am drawn to the medium of pottery for its physical quality, an experience of touch for myself as I work and the experience of using the finished piece. My intention is to create ceramics that bring joy to the viewer.”
